Basic Needs and Wellness Grants
USP offers financial assistance to students who have previously been incarcerated or impacted by the criminal punishment system. This support includes grants aimed at fulfilling fundamental needs such as housing, food and clothing, as well as providing resources for educational materials like books and supplies. Additionally, the program prioritizes the promotion of overall health and well-being among its participants by facilitating access to wellness programs and services. By addressing these essential aspects of student life, the program strives to ensure that all individuals have equitable opportunities to thrive academically and personally.
Underground Scholars Initiative
USI is a student group that supports formerly incarcerated students by building community, hosting events and engaging on campus in various ways. USI also does outreach and tabling at community events. More about USI can be found on their Facebook page.
Space and Other Resources
USP is located in South Hall, Room 26. This designated space serves as a welcoming environment for USP students to convene, study and foster connections with campus partners and advocates. Additionally, the facility includes dedicated office spaces allocated for full-time USP staff members. These offices not only serve as administrative hubs but also provide a confidential setting for conducting one-on-one support sessions with students. This personalized approach ensures that students receive individualized assistance tailored to their unique needs, contributing to their academic success and well-being. By offering both communal and private spaces, USP strives to create a supportive and inclusive ecosystem where students can thrive personally and academically.
