First Year Aggie Connections (FYAC) peer mentors work with a staff/faculty facilitator to mentor a group of around 25 first-year students in a “Connection.”

Each Connection is different—some are associated with for-credit seminars, others are affiliated with on-campus groups and others are based on a common academic or co-curricular interest.

As a peer mentor you:

• Are each assigned to one Connection (around 25 students) for one academic quarter
• Provide information, advice, resources, and support to first-year students in your Connection
• Collaborate with your assigned Connection’s Facilitator to provide support to mentees
• Facilitate communication and social interaction within your Connection
• Plan activities to engage students in UC Davis culture
• Spend around 20 hours per quarter on Connection activities
• Receive a stipend of up to $320 for the quarter

Peer mentors:

• Are undergraduate students who have successfully completed their first year at UC Davis
• Are students that enjoy being in leadership positions and creating community among peers
• Believe in the Principles of Community and are committed to creating safe, comfortable environments for their Connection
• Represent all colleges and majors
• Go through training in order to understand their role in FYAC
